Reflecting on a Job Well Done: Reclaiming Jozi's Sparkle

Image
Last week, I was proud to be part of a fantastic team effort to make Johannesburg shine again! We worked together with Pikitup Johannesburg (Pty) Ltd , Johannesburg Road Agencies (JRA), City of Johannesburg , University of Johannesburg Community Engagement, and JMPD to clean up our city's roads. I'm so happy to say we did it! Our city looks amazing again, and it's truly "Jozi Maboneng" (Place of Light). This project didn't just make our city look better, it also showed us that when we work together, we can achieve great things. Seeing different groups share resources and expertise was truly inspiring. This project reminded me how important it is to work with others and make our community better. I'm proud to have been part of this project and look forward to continuing to contribute to initiatives that make our community better. From this entire initiative what i have learned is that: - Working Together is key to making a big difference - Community-D...

Honoring the Legacies of Madiba and Charlotte Maxeke: A Day of Service and Reflection

Image
J uly 18, 2024, marked a significant day in South Africa's calendar - Nelson Mandela Day. A day to commemorate the life and legacy of a global icon, who embodied the spirit of Ubuntu and selflessness. As I dedicated my time to serving the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital (CMJAH) community, I couldn't help but reflect on the values that Madiba and Charlotte Maxeke shared - a commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others. The Enduring Legacy of Charlotte Maxeke As I volunteered at the hospital, I was reminded of the remarkable life and legacy of Charlotte Maxeke, the pioneering South African leader and activist after whom the hospital is named. A champion of women's rights, education, and social justice, Maxeke's tireless efforts to uplift her community and challenge societal norms continue to inspire generations. Her selflessness, compassion, and dedication to the betterment of society are values that we can all learn from.       ...

Are you really "Linked In" when you use " LinkedIn"?

Image
LinkedIn has become an essential platform for professionals to connect, network, and build their personal brand. However, as the platform has grown in popularity, it's worth asking the question: are you truly "linked in" if you're using LinkedIn?  On the surface, LinkedIn appears to be the perfect platform for building meaningful professional connections. You can connect with colleagues, potential employers, and thought leaders in your industry. However, there are some limitations to these connections that are worth exploring.  Firstly, it's easy to fall into the trap of accumulating connections without actually engaging with them. You may have hundreds or even thousands of connections on LinkedIn, but how many of those do you actually interact with on a regular basis? A large network is only useful if you're actively nurturing those relationships and building rapport with your connections.  Secondly, LinkedIn can sometimes feel like a highlight reel of prof...

“Source: A picture captured during the campaign of #GenderBasedViolence”   After  having a  decline in 2020, the issue of gender based violence has once again become one of the most popularly used buzzwords in South Africa. With the country now confronting an  increase of about 9.6% compared to the stats South Africa once had in 2020. As a result of the current  unemployment  and high poverty rate in South Africa, more and more people are being left as victims of gender based violence. Gender based violence continues to contribute negative impacts on the corporate social media space as most people pin the media as the broadcaster of virtual violent actions that results in the audiences wanting to practically do what they see bein...

Will The Future Of PR Remain Bright Even In This Darkness?#Eskomloadshedding

Image
"Source: A picture of a male in corporate social media stressing about his future in his work field." . One of South Africa's popular phrases is once again load shedding. As a result of a "trip" at the Nuclear     Power Plant in Cape Town, the nation is currently experiencing stage 6 blackouts, which is continuing to have a negative impact on the PR and media industry in general. The current problem of  Eskom load shedding  which started back in 2007 (11 years ago) in the country of South Africa , has left an ample amount of individuals in the Public Relations (PR) field stranded and questioning the brightness of their future in their field of work. This is all after they started feeling the severity of the pandemic #Eskomloadshedding, when this problem was causing bad network/internet connection causing their audiences to not be able to engage resulting in there being a decrease in post viewership and the some audiences getting the information after its ex...
